(18.07.19) A solar powered Aquabus by Grove Boats operating on the Seine River in Rouen (France)

The Felix de Azara, an Aquabus C60, joined the fleet of river shuttles on 15 July for the crossing of the Seine in Rouen.

This project launched by the Rouen Port Union is a formidable demonstrator of electric and solar mobility. The Aquabus C60 is indeed a 100% electric powered ship and the solar panels on its roof allow a significant part of energy production. This model is based on the same hulls as the Sun21, the first solar boat to have crossed the Atlantic entirely by solar energy, in 2008, a few years before the PlanetSolar and Energy Observer projects. Aquabus C60s have been in operation for many years in Berlin (DE), Chichester (GB), Lake Maggiore (IT)...

The project has received a lot of media coverage and we are confident that it will be continued after this first maiden season.
